Watch the whole film here: A short film by Nicolaas Smith for HFBK Hamburg. SENSE+INNOCENCE links images and music: an experiment with a chipmonk, from an American educational film, and a Vietnamese children's song. The combination produces a disturbing and moving montage. A researcher experiments with a chipmunk. In vain, the animal reaches again and again for a peanut, apparently while thinking about the meaning of hope, but can't quite come to a conclusion. In the background, the Vietnamese singer, Xuan Mai sings “If I had to live in a world without hope” SENSE + INNOCENCE "four minutes of catharsis: Wonder, enthusiasm, compassion, and finally redemption" (Vienna Independent Shorts)
