Ashton Holmes made his first appearance on the podcast this week. The actor, who plays Tyler on ABC’s new hit primetime series, REVENGE, gave us a little insight into the makeup of the character:

“The creator, Mike Kelley, saw Tyler as a ‘Talented Mr. Ripley’ type, but as the show has evolved and how Tyler has evolved, I think he’s more of someone who is a master manipulator that will do whatever he needs to do to get what he wants. I think what Tyler wants is power. Early on, we see his obssession with Daniel, and I think that is all based in his need to be powerful and successful.”

Holmes was later asked about the, what us in Twitter-land called it, “The Kiss That Wasn’t” with Gabriel Mann (Nolan):

“When we filmed it, we absolutely kissed. I don’t know why they cut it. They really scaled it back. Gabe and I really went for it. The final cut was a lot more PG than what we filmed. I think the networks have their reasons and what not. It was still really great television, but I think it would have been cool if you saw more. I don’t want to give anything away, but there is more to be revealed between Tyler and Nolan, and their storyline.”

What was surprising, yet fun, about this show was the surprise call-in from REVENGE co-star Gabriel Mann! The actor wanted to surprise Ashton on-air, not realizing the show was taped. Instead, we turned it into great interview with Nolan:

“As an actor, you hope to play as many characters as you possibly can and explore what you are capable for in that art form. I never played a guy quite like this. In 10+ years in working in a lot of things with a lot of people, this just really struck me. It is a great time to be in television. When I got the script, this one jumped out. I was like, ‘This guy is really a character. How far are they gonna let me take this?’ It will be interesting to see what is possible.”

Mann also went more in-depth about Nolan, as well as his thoughts on the unaired kiss scene.

Brian Gramo, the founder/creative director of, also stopped by the podcast to talk about how it was started, and how the previous writer’s strike helped in increasing viewership. Gramo also let me know that there are Street Fighter competitions that take place all over the world, where you can win money….try $50,000 even! I think I need to get on that!
