Washington, DC -- Saturday, November 19th -- Its the kids turn to show their holiday spirit! Children from across the Washington area spent the day making cards for the troops as part of the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign. The program, now in its 5th year, is aimed at getting hundreds of thousands of cards to servicemen and women, veterans and their families during the holiday season. GIs have told Red Cross staffers that the hand-made cards from children mean the most, and this event, healed at Red Cross National Headquarters, helped create many of them. In addition to card-making, there were games, snacks and holiday music to entertain children and parents alike.
