Each week on Televised Revolution, we endeavour to look not just at television, but also everything ‘televisual’. That is, we want to discuss issues that surround the industry/medium. As with television, online platforms are radically changing the way that performers are promoting and distributing their work.

With much of the comedy we see on television originating from stand-up comedy performance, it’s worthwhile discussing the way that the Internet has changed the way that performers are getting their voices out there by way of both promotion and DIY media (ie podcasts, YouTube videos, etc). And how, in turn, is that impacting upon television?

What better person to discuss this than Paul Provenza? A US stand-up veteran and a comedy ‘curator’ (of sorts), Provenza has seen and done it all. We talk to Paul Provenza about the changes he has seen in the industry, how his colleagues have embraced the Internet, and how his own creative endeavours have been impacted.

Paul Provenza can be seen each week in the US on Showtime’s The Green Room with Paul Provenza. His book, Satiristas! can be found at all good book stores.

At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter / Facebook. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).
