The Communist Party of India (Marxist) yesterday criticised the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government for its “shoddy” handling of the extradition of Purulia arms-drop prime accused Mr. Kim Davy and ingeminate its demand for a judicial probe into the whole incident.

Referring to the production of an expired arrest warrant in a Danish court, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau said this exposed the casual way in which the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) was dealing with this important case.

A statement from the party said that, “The shoddy manner in which the CBI is handling the extradition case of the prime accused Niels Holck alias Kim Davy only strengthens the apprehension that some high-level authorities have something to hide regarding the Purulia arms drop,”.

Despite the recent revelation of Kim Davy on how he escaped from India, the Central Bureau has not yet investigated the role of the persons named by Kim Davy.Commenting on the mistakes made in the list of persons who is wanted for terrorist activities living in Pakistan, prepared by the Central government, it said this showed the officials concerned and the Home Ministry in a bad light and compromised the position of India in the matter. The party also said the government should take action against those who are responsible for this bungling and reassure the country that security needs would not be handled in such a cavalier fashion.
