You would think college students would only SUPPORT a bill aimed at freezing the cost of tuition... But at today's hearing to freeze tuition one college student from UND spoke in support of the idea another from NDSU against it. Representative Cory Mock is sponsoring the bill. He says tuition costs are rising so fast that students are being priced out of college. Mock says tuition at UND has doubled since 2002. Robert Vallie represents NDSU students. He says students wonder if the school will make cuts elsewhere to make up for the decrease in income from tuition... (Robert Vallie) "We feel that investing in academic facilities, additional faculty, placing funds towards differed maintenance or equity funding would help to ensure greater gains for students overall both in the short term and in the long term." Governor Jack Dalrymple's proposed budget holds tuition at the state's five two-year colleges. It also caps tuition increases at the four year schools at 2.5 percent. House Bill: 1301
