Once upon a time, a long time ago, wealthy European monarchs and noblemen kept artists in business. They commissioned operas and plays, symphonies and ballets. Many of these works are still part of the classical arts canon. We don't have a monarchy in this country, so who pays for new work here? Well, you can, even if you're not a king or a member of the landed gentry. KUOW's Marcie Sillman reports.
